On 21 October, the bishops of Panama were received at the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments during their ad limina apostolorum visit. The Dicastery published a summary of the meeting on CultoDivino.va. It reads: “The dialogue also brought to light the danger of extremism in the liturgical sphere and of the instrumentalization of the Eucharistic celebration by certain groups of the faithful. These groups tend to provoke division and confusion by raising issues such as receiving Communion kneeling and in the hand, or the use of the veil by women. Bishop Robert Mutsaerts was initially hopeful about Leo XIV’s pontificate but is now beginning to have doubts. Pope Leo XIV ultimately bears responsibility for the decision to deny traditional Catholic pilgrims entry into St. Peter’s Basilica, Bishop Mutsaerts told The Remnant on October 26. While unsure whether Leo personally knew about the decision, Mutsaerts insisted: “Well, in the end, he is responsible. A Buddhist monk recited a traditional Buddhist prayer at today's meeting in Assisi, attended by Cardinals and leaders of other religions. The prayer was delivered during the final ceremony, marking 40 years since the controversial 1986 Assisi meeting. The pagan monk said: “May the rains fall at the proper time. May the crops be abundant. May those who suffer find consolation. May all beings be happy. May peace reign in the world.” The prayer closely resembles traditional Theravāda Buddhist blessing verses preserved in Pāli, invoking prosperity, righteous rulers, and freedom from suffering. The verses do not explicitly address a personal deity.

The Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel in Pulligny, Meurthe-et-Moselle, northeastern France, faces demolition following a municipal safety order issued on August 26. Structural damage worsened and raised fears of collapse. Built in 1868 to designs by architect Léon Vautrin, the Neo-Romanesque and Neo-Gothic chapel was financed by parish priest Abbé Joseph-Pierre Clément and blessed on June 24, 1868. Local authorities closed the surrounding area to traffic and announced plans to demolish the building, while expressing an intention to preserve its bells. However, heritage organization Urgences Patrimoine disputes the necessity of demolition. According to the group, a 2023 assessment by CAUE 54 had already recommended urgent conservation measures, but these were never implemented. Vatican says Summorum Pontificum organizers should have requested prayer inside St Peter's basilica instead of procession. The refusal to authorize the annual Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage procession concerned only the procession itself, Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office, told the Substack.com-account 'The Pillar' on October 26. The Secretariat of State’s rejection referred “exclusively to the procession, because that’s ordinarily not allowed, not even for dioceses that come in pilgrimage.” Bruni added: “If the organizers wanted to hold an [alternate] activity such as Eucharistic adoration or prayer, they should’ve made a specific request to that end.” However, the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage had included a procession every October since 2012. The organisers of the annual pilgrimage Summorum Pontificum ‘Cœtus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum’ published an October 27 statement about the Vatican’s rejection to enter St Peter’S basilica. The text confirms that no Solemn Pontifical Mass was ever intended at St Mary Major Basilica, thus a supposed downgrading of such a liturgy to a low Mass was a false rumour. A little known information is that the Marian basilica wasn’t offered by the Vatican as an alternative. The organizers contacted Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, archpriest of Saint Mary Major, who agreed to hold the Mass in the basilica.
