Leo XIV Establishes Vatican Commission on Artificial Intelligence

Pope Leo XIV has established a Vatican commission dedicated to artificial intelligence.
The “Interdicasterial Commission for Artificial Intelligence” includes representatives from seven Vatican dicasteries: Doctrine of the Faith, Culture and Education, Communication, and Integral Human Development, as well as the Pontifical Academies for Life, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
According to the Vatican, the new body aims to promote cooperation and information exchange on AI-related projects and to develop internal guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence.
The commission will initially be coordinated for one year by Cardinal Michael Czerny, 79.

The problem with AI is the 'magical thinking' which presumes the stuff it is computing with is actual 'intelligence'. Any computer, no matter how massive or fast, loaded with the ideological slop and skewed 'facts' in which our world is mired at the moment will end up giving you back what you put into it. It thereby becomes, inherently, 'fool's gold', or, in this instance, 'fool's god'.

‘Les Bravades’ have taken place in Saint-Tropez for years on 16, 17 and 18 May. They are a display of the pride which residents of Saint-Tropez have in their glorious military past and of their deep devotion to their Patron Saint.
HISTORY
In 68 AD, Saint Tropez publicly refused to renounce his Christian faith in front of Nero. Nero had him beheaded. His body was then placed in a boat with a rooster and a dog to symbolize the disrespect shown to the emperor. The boat was then pushed into the River Arno.
It was carried by the currents to the shores of Saint-Tropez. At the end of the 15th century, the town of Saint-Tropez was rebuilt, fortified and repopulated. The role of the new inhabitants of Saint-Tropez was to defend the town and its surroundings. They also carried their weapons to celebrate the Saint's feast day, which took place on May 17 in the Saint-Tropez chapel "outside the walls". The …

Cardinal Grech: We Need Women Calling for "Female Priesthood"

Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, claimed at the German Catholic Congress (Katholikentag) in Würzburg that both Germany’s Synodal Path and the global Synod on Synodality are inspired “through the same protagonist: the Holy Spirit.”
Katholisch.de reported on May 17 that Grech described the Church as a “symphony,” saying that synodality is about harmony rather than the sum of individual opinions.
Theology student Finja Miriam Weber, a member of the German Synodal Assembly, responded by asking who decides which “instruments” people in the Church are allowed to play. She added that, as a woman, she is excluded from certain roles simply because she is female.
After applause from the audience, Grech replied that the Holy Spirit is the conductor of the symphony. Before the discussion could continue, the moderator ended the exchange.
However, Cardinal Grech later approached Weber and told her: “We need people like you.”

@mcallansteve I understand what you’re suggesting, but the problem with that statement is that it was the “religion” or the “faith” that was changed in Vatican II.
I know many suggest it’s a “new” Church, but the Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and can never change.
The Modernists of Vatican II could only change the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church, which they have done.

Silent Epidemics Amid the Rubble

The war in Gaza has opened another new front, one that is almost invisible, silent, and deeply disturbing: the health crisis. In makeshift camps where hundreds of thousands of displaced people live among rubble, waste, and open sewers, the population must now contend with a massive infestation of rats and parasites that is turning the humanitarian crisis into a potential epidemiological disaster. The alarm was raised by Caritas Jerusalem and echoed by Caritas Internationalis through the testimonies of healthcare workers present in the Strip. Harout Bedrossian, head of resource development for the Catholic organization, describes a situation that has deteriorated to a level that "many believed humanity would never witness." After losing their homes, families, and safety, Palestinian families now face a new enemy: rodents infesting the overcrowded tent camps. According to testimonies gathered on the ground, rats enter the tents at night and bite children and adults as they sleep. Mothers …

Worse Than Germany: The Spanish Episcopal Conference will award the music prize '2025 ¡Bravo!' to Rosalía for her 'Lux Tour'. The tour heavily incorporates Catholic imagery and symbols, including confessionals, crosses, Marian references, processions, and a stage version of the huge incense burner from Santiago de Compostela. These elements are combined with nightclub aesthetics, sexual provocation, and reinterpretations of religious themes.

Christ Blasphemer at Olympic 'Last Supper' Works for Paris Archdiocese

Worse than the German Church: Barbara Butch, the French activist who parodied Christ in a Last Supper-style during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, is now directing artistic installations in Parisian churches.
Butch described herself as a "fat, Jewish, queer lesbian" and labelled the 2024 mockery, which featured transvestites, as the "new gay testament".
According to TribuneChrétienne.com, Butch will direct installations inside several historic Parisian churches during Paris' Nuit Blanche festival, scheduled for 6–7 June.
The initiative aims to transform the churches into spaces for sensory and participatory experiences.
One project will take place inside Saint-Laurent Church in Paris. Titled Sous la peau du ciel (“Beneath the Skin of the Sky”), this installation invites visitors to leave recorded “wishes” via telephone. These messages will then be mixed with atmospheric sounds and digitally processed to create what the organisers describe as 'living and evolving sound …Siwaju sii

Germany’s Synodal Conference "Postponed": Presiding German Bishop Heiner Wilmer said he does not expect the first meeting of Germany’s planned Synodal Conference to take place in November as originally scheduled. Speaking at the Katholikentag in Würzburg, he pointed to ongoing Vatican review processes, saying the proposal is moving “from one dicastery to the next.” Bishop Wilmer nevertheless said he is “confident that it will continue,” while adding that “some patience” is needed. The Synod Conference is a permanent national body that makes decisions for the entire country, thereby exercising authority over individual bishops.

Masses Prohibited During Argentinian Roman Rite Pilgrimage

Worse than Germany: The Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of San Rafael, Argentina, Bishop Marcelo Mazzitelli, did not authorize the celebration of the Mass in the Roman rite during the pilgrimage Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad, except on the final day, reports ElWanderer.com on May 14.
The pilgrimage to Luján scheduled for August 15-17 follows the model of the Chartres pilgrimage. Last year, there were about 3,000 participants.
Such restrictions are uncommon even in Germany or Italy.
The celebrant for the German pilgrimage in the Roman rite, held at Corpus Christi on June 4–7 in Altötting, Bavaria, is Bishop Marian Eleganti.

"Excommunication of FSSPX Will Go Down in History as Huge Error of Leo XIV": Talking to EWTN on May 14, Bishop Athanasius Schneider notes that the Vatican shows leniency toward anti-Catholic movements, the German Synodal Way, and even state-controlled forces like Communist China, while cracking down harshly on the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X: “Now it seems that the Vatican and the Pope are showing their power: ‘We have the power. We will excommunicate them.’ This is not synodal. This is not pastoral. If the Pope excommunicates them, it will go down in history as a huge error of rigidity, pastoral rigidity, and one-sided severity toward tradition in the Church.”

Bishop Schneider told EWTN that if Pope Leo excommunicates the SSPX “this will go down in history as a huge error in pastoral rigidity and one-sided pastoral severity towards tradition in the Church”

Bishop Barron Hosts ‘Married’ Homosexual, Father via Surrogacy Dave Rubin on Podcast

Bishop Barron REFUSED to challenge or address Dave Rubin’s so-called ‘marriage’ or purchase of children from surrogate mothers.
Bishop Robert Barron hosted “married” homosexual and father via surrogacy Dave Rubin on his podcast released Thursday.
Barron, an influential intellectual, did not challenge or address at all Rubin’s homosexuality, so-called “marriage,” or fatherhood with his partner during their hourlong
discussion. Rather than debate their fundamental differences of religion and worldview, the pair discussed public figures and applauded others’ ability to amicably discuss differences of opinion.
The bishop’s failure to substantively address Rubin’s beliefs and lifestyle during a public discussion is significant because they are stumbling blocks to his salvation, as the Catholic Church teaches. The two said they are planning to have a follow-up conversation with “a lot more to cover,” but have not specified a date.
In his post on the discussion to X, Barron said they …

The Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 this week to block library staff from recognizing or celebrating LGBTQ 'Pride Month.'

Library staff blocked from Fresno Pride event by majority of county supervisors

Members and supporters of Fresno County's LGBTQ+ community urged local officials to allow the library to participate in a Pride Month event.
A split Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to prevent library staffers from being involved in a Pride Month event next month, and placed what restrictions the body legally could on displays at library branches.
With the 3-2 vote, the supervisors denied a request from library staffers to participate in the
Fresno Rainbow Pride event that follows the annual parade. The participation would have amounted to an informational booth at the event, which typically comes with a $125 fee.
Fresno Rainbow Pride officials said Tuesday they would waive the fee, but that did not prevent Supervisors Garry Bredefeld, Nathan Magsig and Buddy Mendes from voting to deny the request.
In a more theatrical moment than is common at a board meeting, Bredefeld took out a sign to place on his desk that said “no indoctrination of our children,” which also …
