Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich said this week that he has worked closely with Pope Leo XIV for years and often draws on the pontiff’s language when speaking on political issues. Appearing on Father James Martin’s podcast, Cupich said his relationship with Leo dates back to 2014 and deepened through their shared service on the Dicastery for Bishops. “We have a very good history together working on important projects,” Cupich said, adding that both shared “a great devotion to Pope Francis.”
Ken Klippenstein writes on April 24 the truism that the U.S. has long maintained extensive intelligence and security monitoring of the Vatican. The used agencies are the CIA, NSA, FBI, and State Department. - The CIA is represented in the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican and the Agency has been penetrating the Vatican government and diplomatic corps for years. It has human spies working inside the Holy See bureaucracy. - The NSA intercepts Vatican communications, emails, and texts, working independently and through a joint NSA/CIA “Special Collection Service.” - The FBI investigates crimes committed against and by the Vatican. It also regularly provides threat intelligence to the Pope during his travels. FBI documents show that the first Trump administration sought to beef up its coordination with Italian intelligence agencies and Vatican officials on things like cyber security, white collar crime, human trafficking, art theft and other issues. - The State Department closely follows the ins …More
{YouTube CC-BY 4.0} Historian and broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo explains why the only hope of saving Britain is by electing a majority small “c” conservative government with a clear mandate to implement the strong policies required to save the nation. This can only be achieved if the right unite. A fractured right will never form a strong majority. Post navigation

The appeal of the Old Liturgy for young people lies in its focus and orientation on God, not on the community. We have so many rites in the Catholic Church. We should accept them for what they are: mere rites. We must infuse every rite with love and devotion; otherwise, it misses its mark. The Old and New Rites, as such, have nothing to do with whether we recognize the Council or not, or how we deal with its texts or reforms.
enya’s Court of Appeal ruled that abortion is not a constitutional right and is only legal in limited situations, such as when the mother’s life or health is at risk or in emergencies. The court said Kenya’s constitution protects life from conception and generally prohibits abortion except for those narrow exceptions. The ruling reverses a 2022 High Court decision that had broadened abortion access and restores criminal proceedings against an abortion provider in a 2019 case involving complications after a teen’s abortion. Supporters of abortion rights criticized the decision and plan to appeal to the Supreme Court, while pro-life groups and many Christians in Kenya praised it as protecting unborn life. Kenya remains socially conservative on abortion despite limited legal exceptions.
BREAKING: Kenya's Court of Appeal rules that abortion violates the child's right to life and overturns the decision of a rogue judge who had tried to legalise abortion! This is a HUGE win in one of Africa's biggest legal cases ever.
The last journey doesn't send a warning. It arrives without asking. Without preparation. Sometimes... it doesn't even give you a chance to say goodbye. You leave without an "I love you," Without a "Forgive me," Without that last, unspoken embrace. We spend our days obsessed with plans— Vacations, career goals, shopping lists, errands to run…But we rarely think about that other trip. The one that comes like a thief in the night, Grabs you by the hand—and takes you away. It doesn’t matter if you’re ready, If you’re wide awake or fast asleep, If you’re terrified, Or if you still have so much left to say. And it hurts. It hurts so much it’s hard to draw a breath. Because only then do we realize that we can't take anything with us. Not our things, not our titles... only the love we gave. Only the memories we left behind in the hearts of others. Sometimes we walk out the door in a rage, Slamming it behind us... Never thinking that it might be our very last "goodbye." Seeing so many people …More
Leo XIV sent a video message to those gathered at DePaul University in the U.S. to mark the 15th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in the State of Illinois. He stressed that the Church continues to affirm “that the dignity of the person is not lost even after very serious crimes are committed.” In The City of God, Augustine of Hippo argues that legitimate public authority acting under just law may order death.
Pope Leo sent a video message to those gathered at DePaul University in the U.S. to mark the 15th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in the State of Illinois. In the message, he stressed that the Church continues to affirm “that the dignity of the person is not lost even after very serious crimes are committed.”
This is puzzling: If the Church now teaches that the death penalty is inadmissible because it attacks human dignity, this makes it sound like it is a "malum in se". But a malum in se is always evil and therefore never admissible, not even in times when there are no other means to safeguard the community. But then, the Church would have erred for centuries. So what's going on? Popesplainers to the rescue!
Stop Using the Pope as Your Political Shield: Catholic Social Teachings is Not Your Ideological Playground This post is about an activist student from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. She has been arguing certain issues involving the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and then, all of a sudden, she mentioned Pope Francis to support her political views. “Babangon sa hukay si Pope Francis sa mga ginagawa niyo!” Stop dragging the Pope’s name into everything like he’s some kind of political mascot for whatever narrative you’re trying to push. This issue? It’s not about him at all. You don’t get to name-drop the Pope just to give your argument fake moral weight. That’s not how the Church works. Second, let’s get something very clear because a lot of people seem confused or just straight-up ignoring it. The Catholic Church explicitly condemns communism. Not “kind of,” not “depending on the vibe,” but clearly and repeatedly. Look at Pius XI, Pius XII …More
@chris griffin The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church has blessed and approved the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. I disagree it is "fair and just," "all Catholics should ignore Fatima." Our Lady of Fatima said "only I can help you." If we had done what Our Lady of Fatima asked there would be no abortion today plain and simple. I think your position in opposition to Our Lady of Fatima only continues the "Errors of Russia," and abortion is one of those "Errors." God bless you!
Ballroom BLOCKED MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas and Talking Feds host Harry Litman report on Trump’s late night meltdown against a federal judge who once again blocked his unlawful construction of the White House golden ballroom. Subscribe: @TalkingFeds Visit Meidas+ | MeidasTouch Network | Substack for more! It's not unusual for political leaders to repeat themselves publicly. Repetition reinforces ideas and keeps messaging consistent. But there's one topic President Trump can't seem to shake: his plans for a 90,000-square-foot, $400 million privately-funded White House ballroom. A Washington Post analysis (1) found Trump has referenced the ballroom on roughly one-third of the days this year in public remarks or social media posts. That pace puts the project on par with, or in some cases ahead of, mentions of major issues such as healthcare affordability and prescription drug pricing.

On 23 April, Bishop emeritus Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, commented on X.com on the homosexual 'blessing' in the Archdiocese of Munich: "This is evil and must be opposed by every faithful Catholic. Woe to so-called shepherds who lead the sheep astray. Rome should speak clearly and immediately but all I hear is silence. Blessing sin is the complete opposite of love." Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich has instructed all priests and full-time pastoral staff in the archdiocese to perform, enable or facilitate 'blessings' of same-sex and adulterous couples. #newsRyvhmffviq
@chris griffin I guess you just don't understand what I post or what I'm about now do you? It is clear you can't make the connection between abortion and the "Errors of Russia." And you can't make the connection between Our Lady of Fatima and Her words, "only I can help you." I really don't understand how that is lying? God bless you!
CATHOLICS, HOW ON EARTH, DO YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT A WOMAN GAVE BIRTH TO GOD? Yes. And if you don’t believe that, then you don’t yet believe in Christianity. Because Christianity does not begin with a philosophy. It begins with a scandal. A womb. A woman. And God. Let’s be clear from the start Catholics do not believe Mary created God. God has no beginning. God has no origin. God has no cause. But Catholics do believe something far more shocking: The eternal God truly entered time. The infinite God truly took flesh. And that flesh was taken entirely from a woman. Not symbolically. Not metaphorically. Not “in appearance.” But really. The Question That Divides True Faith from Comfortable Religion The title Mother of God does not exalt Mary first. It protects Christ first. Because the real question is not: “Can a woman give birth to God?” The real question is: Who exactly was born in Bethlehem? If the child Mary carried was: only a man, Christianity collapses partly God,…More
World’s oldest nun, Sr. Francis celebrates 113th Birthday | Shalom World News At 113, Sister Francis Dominici Piscatella continues to inspire generations with a life defined by faith, perseverance, and service. The Long Island nun, recognized as the world’s oldest living sister, celebrated her birthday on April 20 with a modest gathering at the convent of the Sisters of St. Dominic in Amityville, New York. Born in Central Islip, Sister Francis entered religious life in 1931 at just 17 years old. She earned the distinction of the world’s oldest nun in 2025 when Sr. Inah Canabarro Lucas, an older nun in Brazil, died at the age of 116. Over the course of her lifetime, she has witnessed the leadership of ten popes, including receiving a special proclamation from Pope Leo as part of her birthday celebration. Despite losing her left forearm in a childhood accident and initially facing rejection from religious orders, she remained determined to pursue her vocation. Sister Francis devoted 52…More
