St Peter’s Basilica and cathedrals will be abused as event venues to mark a United Nations observance. On 21 September, the UN International Day of Peace, St Peter's Basilica ’s will play Sounds of Loss, an international audio installation by German filmmaker Philip Gröning. For 49 hours, 1,096 prerecorded clicks and taps will sound at irregular intervals, each intended to represent a person killed in war. Gröning and his team recorded more than 24,000 sounds - from clocks, light switches, locks, pencils and other everyday objects. The installation is designed to span 21 September across all world time zones. At the Vatican, the installation is located in the atrium of St Peter’s Basilica. The Saint-Colomban church is being built in Serris, Val d’Europe, near Disneyland Paris. The site will include a parish center, cultural center and Catholic school and covers about 4,000 m². On 18 September, three new bells were blessed and lifted into the 36-metre-high bell tower. The ceremony was led by Bishop Jean-Yves Nahmias of Meaux and auxiliary bishop Guillaume de Lisle. The bells weigh 275 kg, 190 kg and 155 kg. The largest is Geneviève-Étienne and the smallest Espérance (“Hope”).

Catholic shrine vandalized and restored in Ceuta, Spain. A small Catholic shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and Fray Leopoldo near Tiro Pichón in Ceuta was found badly vandalized this week. Religious images and devotional objects were damaged or displaced. The perpetrators are unknown. Following reports of the destruction, Ceuta’s municipal authorities sent workers to clean the site, repair the damage and restore the shrine.
A small Catholic shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and Fray Leopoldo in Ceuta was vandalized. A local woman who discovered the destruction said the site had long been used by worshippers to leave religious images and devotional objects. The perpetrators have not been identified.
Gregory Baum, a Jewish convert to Catholicism and Augustinian priest, authored the first draft of Nostra Aetate as a theological expert at Vatican II.
