Leo XIV Promotes Bishop Who Helped Neutralize the Chiclayo Abuse Case

Pope Leo XIV today accepted the resignation of conservative Archbishop Samuel Aquila, 75, from Denver and appointed James R. Golka, 59, as his successor.
Monsignor Golka was appointed bishop of Colorado Springs by Pope Francis in April 2021. In June 2025, El País described Golka as having “similar ideological leanings as Pope Francis.”
When Golka became Bishop in Colorado Springs, the Peruvian priest Ricardo Coronado-Arrascue was serving as judicial vicar and chancellor of this diocese.
A Peruvian Canon Lawyer with Ties to Prevost
Coronado is a former Peruvian Augustinian friar who left the order in 2001 to become a diocesan priest. He knows Robert Prevost well, and the two have had tensions in the past according to CruxNow.com.
In May 2022, Coronado resigned his offices in Colorado Springs, and a settlement agreement was signed between him and the diocese.

Abortion and the new Vaughan Spruce case: freedom of thought is at stake

United Kingdom
Ascolta la versione audio dell'articolo
The director of March for Life UK is facing trial for the third time for silently praying outside an abortion clinic. If convicted, the consequences would be serious for everyone, as the state would effectively be authorised to control people's thoughts.
There is no end to the legal persecution of Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, the 48-year-old Catholic pro-life advocate. Daily Compass readers know her well, including the
two past attempts in 2023 by West Midlands Police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to incriminate her for standing in silent prayer in an area under a local Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). Now the police are taking another shot. Having failed twice to bring charges against her under local buffer zone restrictions, they are attempting to incriminate her under the national public order law passed in 2023. This makes Vaughan-Spruce the first person to be charged under the Public Order Act (POA) which introduced …

Norbertine Brother Accused of Stealing $2 Million

Former Norbertine brother James Joseph Owens, 68, in New Mexico has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $2 million from his religious community. He had served as treasurer and oversaw a construction project.
He was arrested on 23 January and charged with eight counts of wire fraud, 23 counts of engaging in monetary transactions involving property derived from unlawful activity, and one count of tax evasion.
Prosecutors allege that Owens stole the funds while managing the finances of the Norbertine Community of Santa María de la Vid Abbey.
Court documents state that he joined the community in 2009 and was appointed treasurer in 2016.
Investigators allege that, between 2022 and early 2023, he diverted abbey funds through wire transfers, brokerage accounts and cryptocurrency transactions. He then used this money for personal investments and to purchase a home near Albuquerque.
He is also accused of filing a fraudulent 2022 tax return by failing to report income from the …More

Bishop Strickland justified episcopal consecrations (SSPX)

Bishop Strickland aknowledges a state of necessity to SSPX

Every Texan knows this story:
Long before we knew about politics, before we knew the arguments, before we knew how to quibble over details, we were taught something in school that shaped our bones. At the Alamo, there came a moment when there were no more letters to send, no reinforcements coming, no negotiations left to try. The enemy was at the gates. Surrender had been demanded. And everyone knew what surrender would mean.
So the commander – William Barrett Travis – gathered his men – not to inspire them, not to give a pep talk, but to tell them the truth. He drew a line in the dirt. On one side of that line was safety – at least for the moment. On the other side was almost certain death. And he said, in effect: “Choose.” Only one man stepped back. The rest stepped forward.
That line in the sand was not drawn to start a rebellion. It was drawn to end illusions. Crossing it did not guarantee victory – it guaranteed fidelity. And whether we like it or not, that is where the Church …More

‘The war is far from over for the 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza’ says Catholic priest | Aid to the Church in Need

A CATHOLIC priest in Gaza is pleading for the war to stop as the strip continues to sink into a deeper humanitarian and health crisis.
Gaza’s only Roman Catholic parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) about the “very serious” situation caused by dire living conditions and ongoing violence.
Despite the ceasefire called on 10th October 2025, authorities in the Gaza Strip say more than 500 Palestinians have died since then.
Israel Defence Forces have defended military action saying it has been responding to Hamas violations or attacks.
This morning’s renewed strikes on Gaza (4th February 2026) have killed at least 20, most of them women and children, according to hospital officials.
Among the dead were five children, including a 5-month-old and a 10-day-old baby.
Speaking before today’s attacks, Fr Romanelli said: “The war is not over. Some bombing continues notably behind the Yellow Line. Houses have been destroyed, deaths and …

Prevost and his cardinals and bishops need to unite and condemn Zionist genocide in Palestine. They should be hammering this point frequently and insisting that it stop NOW. Prevost should meet with Trump and EU to condemn this genocide. He won't because all he cares about is Synodality and welcoming perverts into the Church.

Zone 00: Permaculture for the Inner Landscape (No Land Required)

In this talk from The People’s Reset 2026, Christian Westbrook (formerly Ice Age Farmer, now UNSHADOWED) bridges collapse awareness with regenerative design.
“The question I heard most as Ice Age Farmer: “What can I do without land? I can’t afford acreage, I’m in the city/apartment, or caring for family...”
The answer: Start with the zone you do control. Zone 00: your consciousness and inner landscape. Permaculture principles (observe & interact, catch & store energy, obtain a yield, no waste, edges, creative response to change, etc.) apply just as well when looking inward.
Tend your own awareness like a garden: harvest joy as renewable energy, compost pain into wisdom, integrate shadow aspects (Jungian work). Build anti-fragile flexibility amid systemic collapse.
No government can repossess your breath, hijack your gratitude, or tax your relationships. This is sovereign territory—immune to encroaching technocratic totalitarianism.
The real shift isn’t about doing more or …

God’s Inclusive Love Respects Homosexuals – Archbishop Scicluna

God dwells within every human life and this idea can offer consolation and direction to homosexual Catholics, writes pro-homosexual Malta Archbishop Charles Scicluna on the pro-homosexual Outreach.faith (February 3)
His text employes psychological categories and rhetoric such as “feelings”, “wounds”, “weaknesses”, “fear”, “self-punishment”, “self-doubt”, “dependence”, “healing”, and so on.
As if there were no sin, Monsignor Scicluna claims that “our stories, relationships, questions and identities are never beyond God’s loving gaze”.
He believes that “our lived experiences—including our questions, wounds and hopes—are not obstacles to God, but places of encounter”.
“Many of us, including LGBTQ Catholics, experience fragmentation: a sense of being divided between faith and identity, church and self, hope and fear. God’s presence gently draws us towards integration and peace.”
The key phrase is: “We are called to become people who welcome, listen and accompany others with …More

Of course the church should follow in Jesus' footsteps to love, sacrifice, and CALL TO REPENTANCE all his children. When we do not call those enslaved to sin to repentance, we do not love them, we lock them away from God's mercy. Jesus did not accompany Mary Magdalene in her sin, but called her to sin no more. The very concept of original sin says, how you were born does not determine your destiny unless you refuse God's grace to change.

P. O'B

“We are called to become people who welcome, listen and accompany others with respect and tenderness irrespective of religious, cultural, racial or sexual differences. This is what God’s inclusive love is all about.” But if you die in mortal sin, nothing of the above will help. This bishop is deliberately muddying the waters.

The marvellous royal church Sainte-Chapelle

It is said that King Louis IX of France took his baptism very seriously. After receiving the sacrament, he began to sign every document as “Louis of Poissy,” and not “Louis IX, King of France,” which would have been the accepted way for the king to sign official papers.
This what the king said about the
importance of his baptism, “I think more of the place where I was baptized than of Reims Cathedral where I was crowned. It is a greater thing to be a child of God than to be the ruler of a Kingdom. This last I shall lose at death but the other will be my passport to an everlasting glory.” So, he signed “Louis of Poissy.” We can't even imagine a head of state saying anything like it today.
King Louis also liked to talk to the common people and try to address their concerns. However, one of the initiatives taken by the king and still with us today was the construction of the magnificent royal church, Sainte-Chapelle. It's on the Ile de la Cite, an island in the Seine River and inside …

Asked for an example of a condition that the SSPX could not accept in order to be in full Communion with Rome, the Superior General goes scorched earth: “The first example that comes to mind dates back to 2019, when Pope Francis, on the occasion of his visit to the Arabian Peninsula, signed, together with an imam, the well-known Abu Dhabi declaration. Together with the Muslim leader, he affirmed that the plurality of religions had been willed as such by divine Wisdom. It is evident that a communion founded upon the acceptance of such a statement, or which would include it, would simply not be Catholic, since it would constitute a sin against the First Commandment and the denial of the first article of the Creed. I consider such a statement to be more than a simple error. It is simply inconceivable. It cannot be the foundation of Catholic communion, but rather the cause of its dissolution. I believe that a Catholic should prefer martyrdom rather than accept such an affirmation.”

Interview with the Superior General of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X

“‘The supreme law is the salvation of souls.’ It is upon this higher principle that, ultimately, the entire legitimacy of our apostolate depends.”
FSSPX.News: Reverend Superior General, you have just publicly announced your intention to proceed with episcopal consecrations for the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X on 1 July next. Why did you choose to make this announcement today, 2 February?
Don Davide Pagliarani: The feast of the Purification of the Most Blessed Virgin is of great significance within the Society. It is the day on which candidates for the priesthood receive the cassock. The Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple, which we celebrate today, reminds them that the key to their formation and preparation for Holy Orders lies in self-giving, which passes through the hands of Mary. It is an important Marian feast because, in announcing a sword of sorrow to Our Lady, Simeon clearly shows her role as Co-Redemptrix alongside her divine Son. We see her associated with Our Lord …

Exorcist Diary #382: Demons Feel Entitled

["Grace," photograph by Eric Enstrom]
Theologians tell us that Satan and his demons fell due to pride and envy-- God would become a man and not an angel. Thus, humans will have something that the angels would not. Despite being dazzlingly beautiful and powerful, Satan wanted more. As perhaps the highest of angels, he felt entitled. And legions of demons followed him.
I was in an exorcism and demanding the demons to leave. After the person renewed baptismal promises and rejected Satan, I said to the demons:
"In Jesus' name, do you have any authority over this person? Tell the truth."
The demons snarled their response: "No."
"Does she want you to be here?" I demanded.
Again, their snarling response: "No."
"Do you any right to be here?" I demanded again.
"No," they snarled.
"You are a thief and a robber," I responded, quoting John 10:8, "In Jesus name I command you to leave." Of course they did not leave voluntarily and eventually had to be forced to leave by the power of Christ.

The Five First Saturdays

The Five First Saturdays
---

The practice of the Five First Saturdays was requested by Our Lady to Lucia on December 10, 1925. Lucia was then a Postulant Sister in the Dorothean Convent at Tuy, Spain. On this occasion Our Lady appeared together with the Child Jesus, Who said to Lucia: "Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns, which ungrateful men place therein at every moment, while there is no one who makes an act of reparation to withdraw them for her."
---
Our Lady then addressed Lucia with these words: "Behold, my daughter, my Heart encircled with thorns, which ungrateful men pierce at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Give me consolation, you, at least; and make known on my behalf that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all who, on the First Saturday of five consecutive months, confess their sins, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for 15…More
