Nuncio Gänswein Praises Leo XIV and Trump - Attacks Putin

Archbishop Georg Gänswein, currently Nuncio to the Baltic States, praised Pope Leo XIV and U.S. President Donald Trump while attacking Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with DomRadio.de on July 22.
Monsignor Gänswein said Pope Leo XIV has brought "a new sense of relief" to the Church.
"Peace is the key word," he believes. "From his very first address, Pope Leo placed the peace of the Risen Christ at the center of his message."
According to the nuncio, the Pope's emphasis on peace has [allegedly] transformed the atmosphere. "It has turned headwinds into tailwinds. Whether that wind will change again remains impossible to predict."

Reflecting on his years alongside Benedict XVI, Archbishop Gänswein said their relationship developed from a professional one into a close personal friendship.
